Cairn in Devon

Information about the location of Yellowmeade Farm Cist comes from Prehistoric Dartmoor Walks.

Further information can be found on Pastscape, Monument Number 440062, which says this is a "Bronze Age cairn located 500 feet north west of the north west angle of Yellowmead enclosure with a central cist aligned south east to north west." They go onto describe "a small cairn of relatively large stones .... situated on a south west slope beside a large outcropping boulder. The cairn has been levelled up by a base of small stones on the lower side, upon which some large stones some 0.3m x 0.4m in section and 1m long, have been place to form roughly concentric rings; the stones are not, however, contiguous."

The Heritage Gateway for Devon & Dartmoor HER number MDV5002 record this cairn as being Bronze Age (2200BC to 701BC). This monument is scheduled (number 1019574), which includes "a partially enclosed stone hut circle settlement, two cairns and a route marker 325m north west of Yellowmeade Farm."

The cairn is also scheduled as part of Historic England List ID 1019574 (Partially enclosed stone hut circle settlement, two cairns and a route marker 325m north west of Yellowmeade Farm).
