An Evening of Old Stones & the Megalithic Portal, Norwich

Wednesday 30th September 2026 • • Carrow House, Norwich

The Old Stones book cover

Join Andy B, founder of the Megalithic Portal, in the beautiful surroundings of the Grade II listed Orangery for an Evening of Old Stones and the Megalithic Portal. Two talks in one, focused around our Old Stones book and 25 Years of the Megalithic Portal. Very kindly hosted by Norfolk Folklore Society.

The Old Stones - A highly illustrated talk covering many of the fascinating themes, mysteries and new discoveries highlighted in our book, along with a look at lesser-known but interesting sites, including some in the local area.

Celebrating 25 Years of the Megalithic Portal - A look back on an incredible 30 years of stones enthusiasm (including 25 of the Megalithic Portal). A whistlestop tour of sites, stories, humour and early web geekery… Andy asks: ‘Was it all worth it? — and what’s next?’
Spoiler: yes.

“A highly engaging speaker who brings passion and knowledge” - David Bramwell, Brighton Catalyst Club
“Funny, knowledgeable and generous, but beneath the humour is a serious achievement” - Megalithomania

Andy B is lead author of The Old Stones, the Megalithic Sites of Britain and Ireland, along with other contributors to the Megalithic Portal web resource which he founded and has been running continuously since 2001. The Old Stones is the most comprehensive and thought-provoking field guide ever published to the iconic standing stones and prehistoric places of Britain and Ireland, and was awarded Current Archaeology Book of the Year.
