Irreplaceable Czechoslovakian heritage is crumbling after four decades behind the Iron Curtain, reports Kate Connolly in Slavonice.

Amongst many other examples developers of a supermarket belonging to a Belgian chain on the edge of Prague recently destroyed an Early Bronze Age settlement rather than pay the archaeology costs and risk the collapse of their project.
