Nine Stones (Dorset), Have you seen this man? submitted by teufel : Mike Crowley, who recently defaced the Nine Stones with markings. Amiable but quite oblivious to what he was doing, also stated he buries crystals at many sites. Has anyone else come across this person? (Vote or comment on this photo)
The Nine Stones stone circle and Hellstones dolmen have recently been defaced with swastikas and six-pointed stars. Portal contributor teufel caught up with the perpetrator.

"He gave his name as Mike Crowley. Said he had a web site but I've not been able to find it. Amiable but quite oblivious to what he was doing, also stated he buries crystals at many sites. [not a good idea either! - Ed]

He says he treats the swastikas as crosses and said he places them sympathetically so as not to harm the stones.

I also visited other nearby sites. The 'cross' inside the Hellstone is cut in. I also found coloured stones at Hellstone and Hampton circle.

I sincerely hope that this individual is tracked down and prosecuted- totally disrespectful and also in my opinion the closest thing I've seen to obscene for a goodish while. I suspect I'm not the only one who feels this way...

Sam, before Teufel crossed my path, no one had heard of me or my opinions. I have answered honestly to the accusations put forward by Andy B, (on behalf of his trusted friend Teufel). Any reference to my own site was done to corroborate my answers, not spread my word. I work alone and would prefer it stays that way.

    you "work alone" ??? no, you have no right to do so. just as i have no right to carve nazi insignia into your home or flesh.
    "work" on ancient sites is finished now . stop it . uncontaminated information from these places is too important for all of our cultural inheritance; you are illegally and immorally using them. you are NOT making them live, or be any more powerful than they already are, by burying commercially produced modern minerals there

There's no point in having a 'kindly chat' unless you are willing to be open-minded, Mike. I get the feeling that you will cling dogmatically to your current belief system. It seems ever the way with people who suffer from the idea that they know The Truth.

I often wonder about the people who buried crystals at the various sites I used to visit. Did they notice, I pondered often, that I had taken them away? Only one group ever did, to my knowledge, and they only noticed because they went back for the stone, which they had buried in oder to charge it.

So. Does Mike carve symbols onto stones or not? Have we sorted out the degree of vandalism involved, if any?

Guys, been dealing with people like this for years, as some of you know.

Threats of violence will not help. They'll make Mike feel persecuted, and that's going to make him more entrenched and more convinced that the world needs saving and he's doing the right thing.

He needs someone to explain to him what they problem is. Not using threats of violence, but the way you might explain about the birds and the bees to a youngster.

Seriously. I understand why you're angry, believe me I do. Taking that anger out on Mike, however, isn't going to achieve anything and might make things worse.

When I met mike he was rubbing stones at Rempstone. He joked he needed an army to summon the powers he required for his work. I wonder if we are helping him by rubbing away his chalkings!

I met Mike a few weeks ago at the nine stones, a pleasant chap who often visits the nine stones as its his local circle, he told me about the crystals he buries and often draws purple swastikas for ceremonial purposes believing the swastika to be much older than its involvment with the nazis claiming it to be mayan in origin. He's very invovled in ancient native american beliefs and ceremonies at the circles but still shouldnt be drawing on the stones. Any defacement of these sites is wrong although i truly dont believe there was any malice in it. From what he told me he usually draws them on the ground.

    Hello Sam, Thanks for the link about chalking sites.
    You only have to look around you to realise that everything is out of balance and has been since the first stones were erected. You are quite right about circles appearing smaller, Nine Stones greets me by taking a step forward toward the centre as I enter. You say yourself you detect all is not well at both Stonehenge and Avebury. Before all stones were erected we had balance, not since. My work is to simply put things back to how they once were.
