ONE of Scotland's most important museums has been saved from closure by a £100,000 investment package. Frank McAveety, the culture minister, helped broker the deal which will save Kilmartin House Museum in Argyll.

This is really good news, as it is a very interesting and important facility. Great displays, and good to be able to have the opportunity to try out some of the 'musical' instruments, and feel the fur hides, etc. A very hands-on place! I bought the CD when I visited in 2002, and it is fascinating (and a little eerie) to hear the reproductions of the ancient music. This is where I first heard about a carnyx, Thorgrim!
