Lundy Beacon Hill Cemetery submitted by Firewater
Lundy Beacon Hill Cemetery Early Christian Sculptured Stone in Devon.
Lundy Island has a cemetery at its centre with the remains of a 13th century chapel.

Along the wall are these early Christian memorial stones, with inscriptions: OPTIMI, RESTEUTA, TIGERNI, POTITUS. They are believed to date from the fifth or sixth centuries AD and are part of a collection of early Christian burials. It has been estimated that there could be up to 100 cist burials in the cemetery area.
