England This Iron Age hillfort is one of the most spectacular in Northumberland. It is located on the top of a hill with great views of the area west and north (as far as Dod Law hillfort) of Wooler. The course of the stone ramparts is perfectly distinguishable, as well as the adjacent enclosure with hut platforms - it is unclear whether this is contemporary with the hillfort.

Other Archaeology An ancient Sumerian city, 20km from Ur, inhabited from about 4000 to 2000 BCE. British and Iraqi archaeologists have started the excavation of the enormous building complex. One of the most striking finds at the site to date is a clay plaque, 9cm high, apparently showing a worshipper approaching a sacred place.
