North America Hidden Stonehenge: A Temple in North America Reveals the Key to Ancient Wonders by Gordon R. Freeman. Runemage writes: Let's start with a holistic review, as I like to - this is a good sized and good weight paperback in the hands, not too big to be uncomfortable but big enough to display some intricate illustrations. The cover comprises a silhouette of Stonehenge against a teal landscape with its ground plan in the sky area above, coloured by the rising sun.

Alternative Archaeology The author needs no introduction to those MegP readers who frequent the forum pages here - his theories will be quite well known if you do. For those unfamiliar with the background, a while ago Jon wrote an adventure novel set in the Neolithic, entitled “The Broken Stone: and the secret of the Heavens’ Henge.”

Events Cerrig writes: At its simplest level, the story is that of Tom Edwards, an innocent young engineer with a natural and rather special gift for geometry, and his bizarre colleagues who are working on Contract 11 over the Lambourne Downs where (fictionally) a deep cutting passes close to a tumulus.

Republic of Ireland If you were given a brief of weaving a story around several actual ancient sites, two distinct races, some old legends and a host of genuine artefacts, how would you make it all work? Bearing in mind all of the factual content has to be archaeologically correct, could you make the tale not only feasible but also interesting?

Book Review: The Megalithic Empire by MJ Harper and HL Vered

Submitted by sem on Sunday, 23 September 2012 (1549 reads)
|
Alternative Archaeology Sem writes: I found reading The Megalithic Empire a very unsettling experience, much like watching Pulp Fiction for the first time - in other words I'm a little unsure if the whole thing is intended to be tongue in cheek! In essence we're looking at an attempt to question the whole of accepted European history, from the first domestication of animals up to the Middle Ages!

The majority of the book is about the prehistoric sites of Malta, but the book is also constructed around the overarching theme of how to interpret archaeological sites with senses other than conventional sight and reading.
