Standing Stone (Menhir) in Rogaland
The Hodnafjell standing stone is located on a small rocky hill close to the sea and with a very nice view over the sea to the south west. The stone is also easily visible from the sea. When I visited the site I was unable to get close to it because the whole area was inside a cattle fence with a lot of young bulls inside. I got some photos from a distance. Since it is no brush or trees nearby the stone was easy to see from a distance.
The stone is said to be 2,8 metres in height, 60cm wide at the base and around 40cm at the top. It is around 20cm thick. It fell down some years ago but was re-erected to its original position in 1945. Some smaller flat rocks are placed at the base for support.
