Runestone in Rogaland
In the garden of the farm called Ytre Bø is a tall and beautiful runestone/standing stone. It is just 10 metres away from a private house and inside the garden. In front of the runestone is flower beds and small flower brushes.
The stone is tall, around 4,5 metres in height, around 60-70cm wide and about 30cm thick. It is shaped like a tall and slender standing slab. The top is has a flat shape. The stone is made of a bluish-grey type of stone and the colour looks very good in the evening light.
When you look at the stone from the south, the runic inscription is located down in the right corner, it is just 0,5 metre off the ground along one of the longer edges of the stone, and it reads from bottom to top. It is made of the younger runes from the newer futhark, it dates the stone to around 800-900AD.
The inscription is translated roughly as: "Kolbjørn was the name of a man that lived here."
