Since 1994 the Big Green Gathering has developed in to the main 'green' event in Britain, if not the world. It has showcased future technologies, alternative ways of life and inspired many town folk to adopt a more sustainable lifestyle. But one corner has often been overlooked that was initially established by astrologer Steve Judd - the Earth Energies and Divinatory Arts area.

The EEDA area's aim is to try and understanding the divinatory techniques and megalithic lifestyles of our ancient ancestors who have graced the Earth for millenia.

With two main marquees showcasing talks and workshops from dowsing to tree medicine and from astrology to megalithic science, the EEDA area covers many subjects that can often only be found at specialist conferences. The current coordinator Hugh Newman says “World experts in megalithic studies, archeology and geomancy camp alongside popular astrologers, shamanic teachers and druidic bards to create a unique 'Conference in a Field' atmosphere.

The two marquees runs side by side for four full days from late morning to late evening with many films and multimedia presentations all powered by solar technology”.

2005 saw an authentically designed stone circle built in the top corner of the field which is aligned to star systems and planets and many local sacred sites including Priddy Earth Circles and Stanton Drew stone circle.

The designers John Martineau and Shaun Kirwan say “Stone circles help remind people of the complexity and ingenuity of our ancient kin who built these incredible structures, that can predict solar and lunar positions, and energetically enhance the local enviroment”. At this years event expect to see a stone labrinth, a shamanic quarry space and a fully lit-up avenue to the stone circle.

Speakers include Jonathan Cainer, Nik Kollerstrom, Natalie Keys, Michael Glickman and Megalithic Portal's very own Andy Burnham, and expect a surprise visit from the old megalithic master himself – John Michell. It promises to be a fascinating and mind-expanding event...and this is only one of the areas at the event !!!
