Andy is lead author of 'The Old Stones - the Megalithic Sites of Britain and Ireland’ book, along with other contributors to the huge Megalithic Portal web resource which he founded and has been running continuously since 2001. The Old Stones is the most comprehensive and thought-provoking field guide ever published to the iconic standing stones and prehistoric places of Britain and Ireland and was previously awarded Current Archaeology Book of the Year.

Talk: Celebrating 25 years of the Megalithic Portal and 30 Years of Ancient Sites on the Web

Andy Burnham – founder of The Megalithic Portal ancient sites web resource and Editor of the community's award-winning book The Old Stones – looks back on an incredible 30 years of stones enthusiasm (including 25 of the Megalithic Portal of course). Embarking on a whistlestop tour of sites, stories, theories, discoveries and early web geekery ... he asks, 'Was it all worth it* – and what's next?' • spoiler: yes

Hello 👋

Browsing the NeoAncients programme, it’s giving the Saturday talk at 1400, not 1600:

neoancients.com/programme-2026/

I should be there having got an early bird ticket

Hello Tim, they moved me forward due to expected noise from the sound checks. I’ve updated it above, thanks for spotting that. As there’s no one on after me I hope to get some extra time ‘til they kick us out! Let me know who/what else you’re planning to go to and I’ll try and join you. Jane Weaver is about all I have currently.
    Cheers

Not familiar with Jane Weaver; has been recommended by another portal person - she’s quite late for me, so will have to see!

    Saturday:

Music for Psychedelic Therapy is one of my most listened to albums, I’m interested to see what’s being done with that

The talk with Maxine Peake, UFOs talk and of course yours 😉 will see what else takes my fancy as the day unfolds

    Sunday:

The 10am panel. Again, will see what else takes my fancy during the day - besides own commitments
