Rollright Stones submitted by mickm : As Hamish has previously featured a photo of myself taking a picture of spring at the Rollrights during the Megalithic Portal meet last week, here is the photo I took, featuring a lonely daffodil by the stones. Category A (Vote or comment on this photo)
There is to be a showing of the film Standing with Stones at the Chipping Norton Theatre in Oxfordshire (not far from the Rollright Stones) on Tuesday, 15th April at 7.30pm in aid of the Rollrights Trust.

As you probably know, the Rollright Stones have been suffering greatly from vandalism over the past years - never a week seems to go by without something happening. The Trust needs all the support it can get in keeping the monument and the keepers hut safe and to improve security at the site.

Tickets, priced at £10.00 each, are on sale from today on and you can book by phoning 01608 642350 or online at Chipping Norton Theatre

The DVD of the film is also available from the Megalithic Portal Online Shop

The makers of the film, myself, Michael Bott, and Rupert Soskin will be at the event and we will be answering questions after the film.

I just checked with the Chipping Norton Theatre box office on the day after tickets went on sale and they've informed me that - yes, you read the header right - 73 seats (out of 213) have sold already!

As I write we are still a whole 5 weeks away from the 15th April so the message is: If you really want to be there, don't hang about - BOOK NOW!

I have about 12 slides of the Rollrights from 1973 showing them in pristine condition before the vandalism. If you would like I could post them. That said, I suspect this vandalism is done by Christians (modern day Roundheads) as the Rollrights have always been known as a Witches Circle.
