Doll Tor  Stone Circle  England  Derbyshire  Visited    3  5  3  Thankfully hidden away and less visited by the nearby..ish 9 ladies
Arbor Low 1  Stone Circle  England  Derbyshire  Visited    3  5  3
Uragh NE  Stone Circle  Ireland (Republic of)  Co. Kerry  Visited    4  5  3  My favourite place on Earth! This has got to be the most beautiful setting for any site. Access can be difficult if it has been raining since crossing a bog is essential to getting there. Take wellies and expect them to get pulled off your feet I question the stone circle title as it appears...

Kenmare  Stone Circle  Ireland (Republic of)  Co. Kerry  Visited    4  2  4  Is it just me ??? something just does not feel right about this place. It is too perfect. Quite a few of the stones are weathered and eroded, others feel almost like they rolled out of the sea last week and into position. I heard a rumour in a local pub that lottery money aided some restora...

Ardgroom Stone Circle  Stone Circle  Ireland (Republic of)  Co. Cork  Visited    3  4  3  Wonderful views which give a feeling of how it was for the "ancients" dificult for disabled. Now has styles, but ground very uneven and can be boggy.
Little Urchany  Clava Cairn  Scotland  Highlands  Visited  27th Feb 2011  2  3  3  The actual cairn cannot be seen from the road but field clearance gives the impression of a cairn. Only when you have walked to the top of the hill can you see the real cairn in the next field. Condition not good, access not great, but still worth a visit.
Hanover  Cairn  Scotland  Moray  Visited  26th Feb 2011      3  I tried access to this site but was more than thoroughly discouraged by the farmer on who's land it is situated. Despite right to roam I was told that crops, cattle and swampy mud would prevent access. Further questioning about condition etc was met by blank stares. I intend to try again from a ...

Cumberland's Stone  Natural Stone / Erratic / Other Natural Feature  Scotland  Highlands  Visited    5  2  5  This stone has no real prehistoric history other than it is just one of thousands of glacial remains. Historically it is of course the famous Cumberland stone, but the only ambience it can offer is the thought that it has seen so much history.
Cloutie Well  Holy Well or Sacred Spring  Scotland  Highlands  Visited  8th Jan 2011  4  5  3  As Cloutie wells go this one is superb. Easily seen from the roadside it is a major tourist attraction. Sadly some people ignore advice to NOT leave nylon or other non-degradable materials and so the site has become a bit of an eyesore. It is though a fascinating place to visit and has a definate...

Clach-na-Crudainn  Standing Stone (Menhir)  Scotland  Highlands  Visited    4  2  4  I pass this site regularly. If one dosn't mind fighting the crowds of shoppers, workers and tourists it makes interesting viewing in the middle of a busy town center. Incidently the stone is just a few yards from the excellent inverness museum
Cawdor  Standing Stone (Menhir)  Scotland  Highlands  Visited  26th Feb 2011  4  3  3  This stone is less than 10 mins from my home i see it everyday in all types of climate. It has always struck me as being a "lonely" stone. Easily seen from the roadside but close examination often impossible due to barley crop in the field.
Brodie  Class II Pictish Symbol Stone  Scotland  Moray  Visited  26th Nov 2010  3  3  4  A fine example, now stands out in the open without case. will soon become damaged by weather. Interestingly the reverse side of stone shows Christian attempts to cover over older carving
Balnuaran of Clava Centre  Ring Cairn  Scotland  Highlands  Visited  16th Jan 2011  4  5  5  Try to go out of tourist season for the best photo ops and for ambience. Usually empty November to February. Warning do not attempt to visit in heavy snowfall unless you have a good 4x4
Aviemore  Stone Circle  Scotland  Highlands  Visited  27th Nov 2010  3  2  5  For a site that is right in the middle of a housing estate it is pretty good. Perhaps it's very existance owes itself to close proximity of watchful neighbours
