Log Text: Not far off the busy road between Morlaix and Roscoff, this Tee shaped allee couvetre is becoming very overgrown, and its difficult to make anything out at all now. It is also not far from a field corner where people have decided to dumpstuff, so overall its not a winner. I seem to remember this from many years ago as being a good and interesting place to visit.

Log Text: Having a look round the area for several menhirs, I had previously identified a couple of large promising looking rocks from the various satellite views. One of these menhirs was near to the main road, a fallen menhir re erected when the new road was being built. I could not find it, obviously well hidden.

Log Text: Having a look round the area for several menhirs, I had previously identified a couple of large promising looking rocks from the various satellite views. I only got to look at one of these directly due to hedges etc, but I felt pretty sure it was not a fallen menhir, but just a natural outcropping of the local granite, of which there is plenty around here. I didn't even bother to take a photo! (wish I had now).

To the south of the road junction I followed a pathway through some newly cut scrubland which was until revently forest, heading towards the noise of the quarry. The path eventually entered into some wooded land, with many boulders laying around, the remnants of quarrying.
Then I saw something. Not an 8m tall menhir, but a 4 metre tall stone standing amongst noulders. I am pretty convinved that this stone...

Log Text: Spent some time looking for various menhirs one morning in June 2016 near to Coatmocun, while travelling through the area (by chance, followings signs south from Morlaix, not on the main road). Following a pathway through some newly cut scrubland which was until recently forest, heading towards the noise of the quarry, the path eventually entered into some wooded land, with many boulders laying around, the remnants of quarrying. I didn't find an 8m tall menhir, but DID find a 4 metre tall stone standing amongst quarrying remains at N48.3604, W3.8011 which matches well to Menhir de Coatmocun (sud) from t4t35. http://www.t4t35.fr/Megalithes/AfficheSite.aspx?NumSite=31767 very well. I am pretty convinced that this stone was once a menhir, see the pictures and make your own mind up.

Menhir du Roz Perez submitted by Jimwithnoname on 13th Jul 2011. I've been on the bridge that spans two worlds. I came across this menhir whilst looking for another stone of 8mtrs, which I eventually discovered in a family front garden behind some trees.
This stone appeared to be original as the workmen had positioned huge 4' square boulders around it to protect it.
The road was blocked, I could go no further. The image was quite striking and one not be missed. A number plate type sign had been drilled to the menhir saying 'RESPECT' but was at the wron...

Log Text: Spent some time searching for this and other menhirs in the area, but could not find this one. However, using a combination of maps, satellite views and my own hunting, I am pretty sure I can now locate this menhir at N48.3527, W 3.8009. The shadow on Flash Earth gives it away. Looking closely, are there a few other fallen menhirs nearby? Could this once have been a row? Unless anyone can find better information, I think a new sitepage should be made for this with the name Roz Perez (the name of the quarry on ign maps). One for later!

Log Text: With better info than in 2005, I managed to find this menhir this time, not far off the lane and at the edge of a bank. I saw no other stones of the alignment, perhaps they are here but overgrown, or maybe this is just a solitary menhir. But we had better be getting on.

Log Text: With better info than in 2005, I managed to find this in June 2016, not far off the lane and at the edge of a bank. I was still unsure whether this was a single menhir, or the recorded alignment of one standing and 3 fallen stones in a bank. I saw no other stones of the alignment, no doubt that if they are here, they are somewhere overgrown in this bank. But we had better be getting on.

Log Text: La Table des Marchands was completely rebuilt in 1988, just a year after I first visited. I really wish I had got pictures from that first visit in 1987 before the major restoration, I know it looked nothing like it does now. Its all a bit too neat and tidy, but it has to be said they have done a good job on the lighting in the chamber, showing off the carvings very well.

Log Text: An impressively long chamber, now mostly uncovered and looking like an allée couverte, which has had several building periods, including modern concrete! Two of the huge capstones are re-used menhirs, probably from the row of menhirs with La Grande Menhir Brise. There are carvings on the underside, now the chamber roof.

Mane Lud tumulus submitted by stonetracker on 11th Nov 2024. Mane Lud is actually two neolithic structures in one. The first was a classic very large Carnacean tumulus with a small burial vault buried underneath. This is the view of the mound looking west. The dips and pits at the top are likely due to the settling effects of previous excavations.

Log Text: Saw somewhere that there is supposedly a second dolmen of Mané Lud in this large 80m long tumulus. There is certainly a large mound amongst the trees, but nothing obvious of a dolmenic chamber to be seen. I later find that there is a second closed off burial chamber. "the Mané Lud tumulus is a large burial monument comprising a closed burial chamber and two arcs of standing stones; inside there is also a passage grave. Only the dolmen is clearly visible today, as the other structures in the tumulus are not accessible."

Log Text: Hoping to stop for a coffee at the creperie in the middle of the Kermario alignements, we found it closed. However to the south of the parking area, beside the wall around the Kermaux campsite is a pair of menhirs which seem very left out, so I go to give them some attention.
