Harford S. submitted by thecaptain on 22nd Jul 2004. Harford Moor South, Dartmoor, Devon SX652599
On Harford Moor, near to the upper reaches of Butter Brook, are the remains of a couple of stone alignments, which are very close together.
The southern of the two is a short double row, which extends in a northeasterly direction away from a small cairn. There are a several pairs of very closely set stones remaining, including what is probably the end pair, which are slightly larger than the others, about 25m distant from the cairn.

Drizzlecombe W row submitted by Anne T on 15th Jul 2019. In trying to identify this elusive row, Sandy asked members of the group to stand on stones they thought might be part of the stone row. From foreground to background: Janet Daynes, Dave Parks (Prehistoric Dartmoor Walks), Gordon Fisher (just off to the right) and Sandy G. Sandy G is walking down the line of stones. He is planning a return trip later in the year to take a closer look.

The cairn/circular structure near the standing stone, which can be seen just above centre, in the upper right hand quadrant - a grey shape just poking out of the grass. The circular shape of this cairn can be clearly seen. I understand Sandy G intends going back to take a closer look at this area later in the year.

Fieldwork identified a short sinuous line of stones leading from near an irregular cluster of stones which could represent the much truncated remains of a cairn or even a stone circle. This line of stones is unlikely to be natural because there is no surface stone in the vicinity but interpretation as a stone row seems on the basis of the available evidence should be considered uncertain. The row seems rather sinuous for such a short length and there has clearly been much disturbance in the area. Future fieldwork under more sympathetic vegetation conditions may provide an opportunity for a re-interpretation.
