Information about the Holne Lee Stone Ring Cairn Circle comes from the Prehistoric Dartmoor Walks (PDW) website. Their notes say this is "one of four cairns on Holne Lee 1140 metres north-west of Greatcombe. Cairn diameter 20.5 metres, height 0.8 metres. Has a 4 metre wide circular bank surrounding a circular area measuring 12.5 metres in diameter.
The PDW web page gives links to further information on Pastscape, Monument Number 441351, describes two cairns, of which this site is Cairn B: "Two cairns lie on the crest, at the north east end of a ridge at 370m above OD.
Cairn A at SX 6849 6980 This round cairn, overall diameter 18.5m is constructed of small boulders and comprises a central mound, 12.8m diameter, 0.9m high, which has been extensively disturbed. It is immediately surrounded by a ring, 2.9m thick and 0.5m high resulting in a cairn of embankment bowl type.
Cairn B. SX 68646990 This round cairn, overall diameter 21m is constructed of small boulders, and consists of a platform 14m diameter and about 0.2m high, with a perimeter rim average thickness 3.5m and 0.5m high. There is a gap, 4.3m wide, facing north north-east. A small modern, marker cairn, 1.0m high, has been built within this rimmed platform cairn."
The cairn is also recorded as MDV5199 (Large cairn on Holne Lee north-west of Greatcombe) on the Devon and Dartmoor HER, and scheduled as part of Historic England List Entry No. 1019268 (Four cairns on Holne Lee 1140m north west of Greatcombe).
