Following reports that The Peak District National Park Authority was to defend itself in the High Court, news comes in that a ruling on the Park's classification of the quarries at Endcliffe and Lees Cross, near the Nine Ladies on Stanton Moor, has been delayed.

The hearing took place in London on May 18th and 19th, yet it ended with Mr Justice Moore-Vick reserving judgement.

DECISION EXPECTED SOON ON HIGH COURT CASE

A legal ruling on the status of the Lees Cross and Endliffe quarries is expected within the next few weeks.

A two-day hearing took place in the High Court in London on 18 and 19 May, and Judge Moore-Bick has retired to consider his decision.

Quarrying company Stancliffe Stone launched the High Court action, challenging the Peak District National Park Authority's decision to list the quarries as dormant under the 1995 Environment Act.

The Authority is continuing its discussions with interested parties on all issues surrounding the quarries, which are located at Stanton Moor near Matlock.
