Be warned! The Scottish Megaraks are on the loose again... The last meet of the year, coming soon to a rock near you... if you live in Scotland, that is....

Place: Pitlochry church car park, for map click here.

Date: Sunday, 10th November

Time: 10:30 am

Itinerary: tromp up a nearby hill (with minimal pouting, short stubby legs will be catered for) and visit Clachan an Diridh. As an alternative, Meall nan Clachan might be an option but it's a long trek up from Tummelside. Consider route via Glen Fincastle instead as it also puts us in striking distance of the possible stone circle at Fincastle farm NN 873 627 and that's not a great distance from the Strathgarry farm circle NO 888 629. All three roughly align with the Claverhouse stone on Garryside (spooky eh!).[Thanks Ian!] That should take care of the pre-pudding phase. Chapel Stone or Priest's Stone (7th century cross slab) near Moulin, nearby is an alleged stone circle at Wester Clunie NN 9146 5951. Dane's Stone (Pitfourie) and Balnakeelie, both in Moulin, and Straloch and Enochdhu stones on A924 out of Moulin for a post-pudding venture. All to be considered, argued over and discarded as necessary, no doubt other venues will present themselves. As organised as usual, in other words....

Puddings: Ah, now we're talking... This is a visit which pays homage to the spiritual home of the Megaraks, the Dug and Custard (Moulin Inn for the uninitiated). An inn which served the Jacobites in the '45 Rising, before their tour of the Peak District. And an Inn which provides a roaring fire, 4 different beers brewed on the premises, spaniels on tap and a wonderful pudding menu. Heaven on earth! Anyone in the vicinity is cordially invited to attend (though warn us beforehand so we know to look out for you). Previous exploits can be viewed at Scottish Megaraks.
