This new design development has been many weeks of programming and testing, many months in planning and - I have to be honest - many years of prevaricating as to the best way to update our 22-year-old web site to modern standards.
However we have have now solved this problem with the very kind help of Pete from Pete Evans web design who designed the template for the new pages with the new moving side bars, menus etc. Also thanks to James Cook for past help in getting the plans and ideas in place to do the update, and the team behind the popular Bootstrap web framework which we are using.
With the new design there are many thousands of possible different pages to display and it wasn't possible to check them all 100% in advance. The responsive nature means we have left it more to your web browser to decide where to place things on the screen so some things, particularly on the gallery pages may look a bit different. But if you see any pages that look seriously not right please let me know in the forum and I will fix them. There will be minor tweaks to improve the formatting over the current weeks but I wanted to get going with it even if it is not 100% perfect everywhere.
If you would like to support what we do you can join as a paid up member of our society - click here for more details, including a free T shirt included with 3 year memberships. And please carry on sending us your photos, and details of ancient sites we don't list.
Many thanks and looking forward to new things!
