On the 21st of September I was at Loughcrew to witness the rising sun penetrate the passage of Cairn T and illuminate the back stone, I have set up this webpage to record the event.

The illumination of the passage and chamber at Newgrange by the winter solstice sun is world famous. Less well known is this event at the Spring and Autumnal Equinoxes in Cairn T at Loughcrew. To quote from the book "Light Year Ago" by Tim O'Brien "Observing the sun beam on the backstone around the days of the equinox reveals a find interplay between the symbols on the backstone of Cairn T and the sun's movement."
