Situated at The Roaches,due north of Leek, Staffordshire.

An ovoid mound,surrounded by stones with large boulder positioned approx. west of the mound,approx. 6 feet from the mound .
Not on the highest point,but on a dip on a ridge between the roaches and hen cloud.
Dia of mound approx. 45 feet to 55 feet.
Not marked on OS map.

Vicky and I found a candidate for a circle in this area (antiquarian JD Sainter mentions a circle on land between The Roaches and Hen Cloud near the Bawdstone) at 008619 (not GPS'd) but John Barnatt disagreed when he saw the site so there is still hope for a new circle if JD Sainter was right.

The Bawdstone has three good candidates for cup marks (one with a ring).

    yes , i ve taken some shots of the stone and it seems to be standing on 3 or 4 others also noticed a cleft in the range beyond which lines up with the rock and south exactly .steve
