An Iron Age engraving discovered on a brick-sized stone at Cambridge’s Addenbrooke's Hospital is being hailed a unique find by archaeologists reports Cambridge News.

The scratch-style engravings on a block of soft chalk-like stone clearly show linear, circular and chevron patterns typical of the period.

It was discovered at the site where the new £42 million Hutchinson Cancer Research Centre will be built.

"This is a unique piece of Late Iron Age folk art," said Cambridge University archaeologist Christopher Evans. "It's quite unparalleled. There are two pieces in Yorkshire but certainly nothing like it is known in the south of the country."
