Rock Art

<< News >>

The Guardian today reports that cows are to thank for the discovery of new rock art - described by renowned expert Stan Beckinsall as “some of the best in the world”.

Duncan Ord’s dairy herd uncovered the decorated slabs in their winter shelter located at Ketley Crags in Northumberland.

In Stan Beckinsall words "The Ketley Crag rock shelter has an extraordinary decorated floor. Northumberland is the only part of Britain where this occurs, so it is particularly significant."

However, all is ont well for the cows as the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs have ejected the beasts from their shelter by paying the Mr Ord a Stewardship Grant to preserve the new discoveries which have been catalogued by Stan Beckinsall.
