East Yorkshire doesn't boast a huge number of stone circles but it does own the tallest standing stone in the country at Rudston. The area, which rises north from the Humber to North Yorkshire, encompasses a divers landscape which includes the enigmatic Wolds.

Upon the Wolds you'll find earthworks such as Willy Howe and deserted medieval villages. Whilst most of the sites aren't as dramatic to view as those found elsewhere they include the famous chariot burials, nearly all of which are found in East Yorkshire, particularly around the Wetwang area. East Yorkshire is a surprising area and one worthy of exploration.
