StonehengeThe Council for British Archaeology is holding a day meeting to discuss the road proposals for Stonehenge at the British Academy, 10 Carlton House Terrace, London, on 27th February 2002.The design and assessment process is progressing and proposals will begin to be finalised in the summer. Many views have been expressed about the proposals without some key issues, like the nature and scale of construction impacts for different options, being clear. This is a chance to discuss how important issues relating to the likely benefits and impacts of the scheme options are being addressed while the design is in progress.
Speakers will include representatives from English Heritage, the National Trust and the Highways Agency's environmental assessment and design team. They will give brief presentations on the context of the scheme and on current work developing the proposals as the basis for an informed discussion of the assessment process and design issues.
A limited number of places will be available free of charge on a first-come-first-served basis. Full details will be sent to participants nearer the time. Please contact Carole Barrowclough, CBA, Bowes Morrell House, 111 Walmgate, York YO1 9WA; e-mail [email protected].
