On Environment Agency lidar (grey icon next to CamRA) this site is a bit of a dog's breakfast with recent large excavations - they have sharp sides, and no clear elongated feature. No other comment

This site lies on a strong alignment that runs from Avebury Henge - Le Mont St. Michel in Normandy & includes W-Kennet long barrow, Stonehenge, Old Sarum etc.
The alignment is examined & followed by satellite in this link;

l used to live in Devizes in the 70s/80s and used to visit Adam's Grave to walk/run from there along Milk Hill to Wansdyke and on to Tan Hill, often coming back in late evening. It's hard to describe how atmospheric it is up there,
l also Mountain Biked along the same route and as l was rock climbing at the time carried a weighted rucksack for training.
At one time, halfway up the hill from Alton Barnes there was a pull in where 3 or 4 cars could park. From there it would be a steady climb directly up to Adam's Grave with ever increasing spectacular views opening up.
However for no good reason most of this pull-in was filled in leaving only access to a pad locked gateway. Now the only safe parking is at the Knap Hill car park and the approach to Adams is along a plateau, less direct and less impressive.
Adams Grave is also "Wodensbeorg", Odin's Place and is likely to have been a place of Pagan Worship, the immediate area is the site of the Battle of Wodenesbeorg in 593 when Ceol (King Cole?) defeated Ceawlin.
All in all a marvellous landscape which makes a great day out, Try walking the spectacular section of the high WansDyke byond Milk Hill. This formed an Anglo Saxon boundary where there was a gallows to hang malefactors who were then buried in the Ditch - and are still there. Spectacular view due North to Silbury.
FANTASTIC! Clive Davies

From Pastscape:

"Neolithic long barrow, identified with the "Wodnesborge" of a charter of 825 AD. Listed by Grinsell as Alton 14. The mound was excavated by Thurnam in 1860. He found traces of primary interments plus a leaf arrowhead. The barrow mound survives as an earthwork 65 metres long and 28 metres wide at its south eastern end, narrowing to 16 metres at its north western end. It stands up to 6.5 metres high, and is flanked by side ditches up to 1.5 metres deep. A later mound has been constructed over the southern end of each of the side ditches. Both are suggested to be pillow mounds. A square enclosure, with sides 18 metres long, partly overlies the south east end of the barrow."

Excellent long barrow in beautiful location high on the ridge above the Vale of Pewsey. No doubt related to the Knap Hill causwayed enclosure on the next hill along the ridge to the east (see my anonymous comment at Knap Hill entry) , and also the Wessex Ridgeway which runs between the 2 monuments.
Well preseved barrow, highly reccomended as wondeful picnic site or part of walk along the ridge, taking in all the neolithic sites.
