Holed stone in Wiltshire

Sarsen stone beneath the floor of Alton Priors Church. Notice the hole in the stone. Earlier antiquarians would interpret that as a "Druidic Chalice" Is it a natural stone in a field full of such stones or is it part of an earlier sacred site?

Another sarsen stone is beneath a trap door at the front right of the church.

All Saints (Alton Priors)
All Saints (Alton Priors) submitted by Thorgrim : This hollow yew in the churchyard is said to be more than 1,700 years old. Far older than the church and perhaps linked in some way to the mysterious sarsen stone beneath the church floor. (6 comments - Vote or comment on this photo)

All Saints (Alton Priors) submitted by Thorgrim : Sarsen beneath the church floor at Alton Priors SU108621 Claimed by some to be part of a stone circle on which the church was built. Notice the hole in the stone and there is a magnificent yew in the churchyard. Indicative of an earlier sacred site? (Vote or comment on this photo)

We stayed here in July 2013. Stayed with Brenda and her daughter at the Yew Tree Cottages (http://www.yewtreecottage.net/). It was a very peaceful stay. We only wish we could have stayed longer. The walk around the area was very cool. Saw the church, the hole stone, the Avon river head. Enough food (breakfast) for four (there were only two of us).
