Capesthorne Hall (SE) submitted by postman : An avenue of trees leads to this fine barrow. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Round Barrow in Cheshire

The grounds of Capesthorne Hall, the seat of the Bromley Davenport family, also appear to be home to a number of prehistoric mounds. This one which appears on the County Sites and Monuments Record as a scheduled bowl barrow lies to the south-east of the Hall. It consists of a round earthen mound 17m in diameter by 1.5m high, covered by trees and disturbed by rabbits. A second scheduled tumulus 25m in diameter and capped by a pedestal lies to the north-east, with a possible third to the north-west.

Capesthorne Hall (SE)
Capesthorne Hall (SE) submitted by postman : The woodland was actually quite nice but the barrow is fair covered in loads of broken branches, particularly on this side. (Vote or comment on this photo)

Capesthorne Hall (SE)
Capesthorne Hall (SE) submitted by meesteryan : Visited on 6th Feb 2026. The trees have been cut back, leaving just a single tree on top of the tumulus and making the mound much easier to see. This photo was taken from the east, from the other side of the A34. (Vote or comment on this photo)
