Round Barrow in Cheshire

A report from the Proceedings of the Macclesfield Scientific Society 1878 records that an urn was found in the grounds of Birtles Hall: ‘Some years ago in forming a carriage drive through the Park, a large tumulus was removed for the sake of the materials when several relics were found, particularly a Roman urn, about 6in, high and 18in in circumference.'

Three round barrows appear in the County Sites and Monuments Record and are marked on the old maps at SJ856745, SJ857745 and SJ856744
