Gwern-Wyddog submitted by cerrig : I've been trying to catch hold of this chap for ages. He always seems to elude me. If there's a Wendy on the Portal I could do with some help. (Vote or comment on this photo)
This Standing Stone is a serious lump of sandstone, about 7 feet tall and 4 feet wide.

Gwern-Wyddog
Gwern-Wyddog submitted by cerrig : This is looking North East, towards Mynydd Bach Trecastle. The deep rain caused erosion grooves give some idea of how long it's been stood here. (Vote or comment on this photo)

Gwern-Wyddog submitted by cerrig : Looking South East. The late evening light bringing out the redness of the sandstone. This is a serious lump, about 7 feet tall and 4 feet wide. (Vote or comment on this photo)

Gwern-Wyddog submitted by cerrig : Looking North West, the geometric shape is obvious here. This is not naturally occurring, it must have been shaped by hand, and then moved to this particular spot, and then raised and aligned into the position we see today. Someone had a very good reason for doing that.

Gwern-Wyddog
Gwern-Wyddog submitted by cerrig : Gwern Wyddog stone is the black dot right in the middle of the image. This shows it's setting in farmland . The Usk reservoir is just over the hedge behind it. Beyond that is Mynydd Myddfai and Mynydd Bach Trecastle.

Gwern-Wyddog
Gwern-Wyddog submitted by cerrig : A zoomed in image, showing the triangular shape, with sheep for scale.
