Holy Well in Devon

Walking along a lane in Mortehoe at the weekend we came across this well. It was opposite a lane that leads down to Rockham Bay or Beach.
It was reopened in 1993 according to a plaque above it.
Carrying on the old pagan custom of giving offerings to the goddess of water, visitors have dropped many coins into the well!

North Morte Well
North Morte Well submitted by geoffstickland : I suspect the OS Reference given is inaccurate. The actual well is in the street leading to North Morte Farm (1 comment - Vote or comment on this photo)

North Morte Well submitted by AngieLake : Quite a few more than 'Three Coins in the Fountain'! Some honest folk around Mortehoe, obviously. (16.9.17) (Vote or comment on this photo)
