Stone Circle in Skye. Sited amidst some spectacular scenery, this is a difficult site to access, the route from the road to Elgol is across extremely boggy ground and there is a stream to ford.

Na Clachan Bhreige
Na Clachan Bhreige submitted by hamilton : Na Clachan Bhreige Stone Circle is easily reached if you follow the path from Kirkibost to Camasunary as far as the ford at 540174. Now follow the stream north, over good ground, till you arrive at a fence (with convenient stile). After crossing the stile, head west, then north again to outflank the 'tail' of the lochan. There is only one stream to cross. On my visit, on the second dry day after... (Vote or comment on this photo)

Na Clachan Bhreige submitted by Flickr : This megalithic stone circle (3 upright, 1 fallen) stands a few hundred metres off the Broadford to Elgol road, close to the track to Camasunary Bay at Kirkibost & Kilmarie. The name translates to "False Stones", which local legend says is men turned to stone. The upright stones stand around 4 to 6 feet high, while the fallen stone is recorded as being around 11 feet long. I have looked at i...

Re: Na Clachan Bhreige by Anonymous on Monday, 02 November 2015
I eventually visited these stones with a couple of photographer friends, having seen them many times from a distance but never attempting to get to them because the terrain looks pretty awkward. In fact, it turned out not to be so bad. From the track to Camasunary Bay, you need to head off towards the stones from near the copse of trees, following what appears to be just a sheep track. Head towards a stile over the fence and then go LEFT, skirting around the stream that meanders into the small loch. There's a section of this where it is shallow enough to cross by walking on rocks and pebbles, though perhaps not if it has recently rained a lot.

The 3 remaining upright stones stand around 4ft to 6ft tall, and a longer fallen stone lies on the ground next to them. One stone, a wedge shape, is quite colourful under the light of a setting sun.

Condition: 3
Ambience: ?
Access: The circle is separated from the road by a wide arm of the reservoir, couldn't find a way across as not adequately equipped. Very boggy ground.
Got to within about 20 yards, there are 3x tall stones in an arc atop a small knoll beside the reservoir.
