Herthum Laehden Steingrab 2
Herthum Laehden Steingrab 2 submitted by Martin_L : Lähden Tomb II (Sprockhoff No. 865) looking along chamber's northern side. The 3 remaining capstones are out of place, so the tomb looks rather destroyed, although all other stones are in situ except for one of the passage orthostats [April 2008]. Lähden Tomb II, Herthum (name of the nearby forest), Sprockhoff No. 865.

Chamber appr. 8,5 x 2,5m (clear 7 x 1,6m) orientated East-West. Originally with 5 capstones (2 missing), 12 orthostats (one is missing) and a lateral passage (3 orthostats left, capstone/s and one orthostat are missing) at chamber's southern side.

The 3 remaining capstones are out of place, so the tomb looks rather destroyed, although all other stones are in situ except for one of the passage orthostats.

The chamber is nearly completely filled with earth. Only the upper parts of the orthostats are visible.

As the small road leading along this tomb has a good quality nowadays, access has become even more easy since my last visit in 1989.

Herthum Laehden Steingrab 2 submitted by DrewParsons : Photograph taken at the corner where Zum Herthum and Herthumstr meet. Herthum Lähden Tomb II is in the woods across the road and to the left (east) of the car whilst its sister Herthum Westerloh Grab 2 is to the right (west) of the car behind the red and white road marker. The I ripped my clothes accessing this site due to the many bramble bushes. September 2009
