Klein Stavern Steingrab 5
Klein Stavern Steingrab 5 submitted by Martin_L : Standing at tombs' eastern end looking towards west. The destruction of this monument fortunately was stopped, but half of the kerbstones are missing. Others have drill-holes to blow them to pieces. Most of the remaining kerbstones are fallen. Possible this is a result of activities to remove them and/or prepare them for blasting (April 2008) (Vote or comment on this photo)
Magnificent, but damaged and unrestored chambered longbarrow.
Part of a necropolis consisting of 4 tombs in a row (Klein Stavern Grab 2, 3, 4, 5).

The barrow measures appr. 33 x 7m and is largely eroded.
Orientation appr. 100° (~ W-E).
The destruction of this monument fortunately was stopped, but half of the kerbstones are missing others have drill-holes to blow them to pieces. Most of the remaining kerbstones are fallen.
The chamber is orientated parallel to the barrow and almost completely filled with earth.
Only the capstones and the upper parts of chamber orthostats are visible.
Chamber measures 8,5m x 4,5m. Clear size is 6m x 3m. Chambers' width is comparatively enormous.
The westernmost capstone is missing the three other capstones (length 4,3m;4,1m;3,9m) are nearly in situ.
Location of the entrance is uncertain.
If restored this site would be terrific.
It has some similarity with Sprockhoff 960 at Bischofsbrück and Sprockhoff 608 at Sievern.
