A Mississippian burial mound that may have been associated with the generally destroyed East Saint Louis Mound Group west of the Cahokia Mounds site. The Sam Chucalo Mound is named for the landowner who declined selling it to be mined for fill dirt.
This mound was protected by the Chucalo family and was recently donated to the state of Illinois.
It lies in a residential neighborhood along the Collinsville Road. It is signposted and protected by a chainlink fence.
