Gray Hill summit cairn
Date Added: 29th Oct 2019
Site Type: Round Cairn
Country: Wales (Monmouthshire)
Visited: Yes on 2nd Apr 2004

Gray Hill summit cairn submitted by TheCaptain on 2nd Apr 2004. Grey Hill or Gray Hill, Monmouthshire. Cairn atop hill at ST434936
Right on the top of the hill, with spectacular views all around is the remains of an ancient, but well worn cairn. I could have been imagining it, but did this cairn once have a kerbed ring around it, and some internal structures ?

Felton Hill Long Barrow T26
Date Added: 29th Oct 2019
Site Type: Chambered Tomb
Country: England (Somerset)
Visited: Yes on 26th Apr 2004

Felton Hill Long Barrow T26 submitted by TheCaptain on 26th Apr 2004. Felton Hill chambered Cairn, Somerset, ST516649.
Having read the description of this site again, it became obvious that the described cairn was the oval barrow near to the west end of the common by the round house. So I went to have another look, with more determination to get pictures.
This oval barrow is approx 20m by 15m, and has a north south axis. It is very overgrown, and as can be seen in the picture, lies right at the end of the runway of Bristol airport.

Royal Hill Cairns (SX621724) submitted by thecaptain on 2nd Aug 2006. Royal Hill Cairn 5
Cairn 5 is easily found to the north of cairn 4, and about 100 metres distant from it.
This is a cute little thing with a complete stone ring around a central cist, but there is little remaining in the way of a cairn.

Site Type: Multiple Stone Rows / Avenue
Country: England (Devon)
Visited: Yes on 5th Oct 2010
Holne Ridge NE submitted by TheCaptain on 5th Oct 2010. I didn’t think I was going to be able to find this as the area it’s in is all covered by fern and bracken, but it was quite obvious once I got near. The cairn is well formed, about 7 metres in diameter about a metre tall with the expected hollow in the top.
