Site Type: Passage Grave
Country: Netherlands (Drenthe)
Visited: Would like to visit

D1 Steenbergen submitted by Martin_L on 12th Jan 2012. Pole aerial view from the NW. Skeleton of a 12m by 3m-3,6m passage grave. Capstone C3 (counting from the West) is damaged and was fallen when Professor van Giffen examined the site in the 1920s, but later placed back. Otherwise chambers' megalithic structure was well preserved. The chamber is more than halfways embedded into a sand dune. Clear height reduced to less than 0,6m. Possibly there also are remains of the barrow.

This one is really hard to find, but worth the effort. We thought it was the finest hunebed of them all.

Site Type: Passage Grave
Country: Netherlands (Drenthe)
Visited: Would like to visit

D17 Rolde submitted by Martin_L on 9th Nov 2009. View from the North. The capstones partly collapsed into the chamber. Probably a result of historic destruction attempts and the removal of all smaller stones and the dry walling. Nevertheless a very impressive site. The nearby site D18 is visible in the background. Date Added: 25th Jun 2012
Site Type: Passage Grave
Country: Netherlands (Drenthe)
Visited: Would like to visit

D22 Bronneger submitted by Martin_L on 12th May 2009. 5 orthostats and 2 large capstones are left of this passage grave. Possibly in situ. But the chamber is deeply hidden in the ground. Only the 2 capstones and one orthostat are visible nowadays. There is an enormous tree growing beside the tomb. All in all a very atmospheric site. (May 2009)
Remark: the lens hood was removed to get some lens flares.

D23, D24 and D25 stand in a little copse about 50ms from D21 and D22.
D23 is really just a dolmen now, with a couple of other stones scattered around.
