D14 Eexterhalte submitted by Sunflowerbird on 9th Mar 2005. D14 Eexterhalte This one's a monster and in stunning condition. Easy to find, too, though I'd imagine on a nice day crawling with picnickers.

D15 Loon

D15 Loon submitted by Martin_L on 26th Jan 2011. Oblique pole aerial view* from the SE. The impressive 5 capstone passage-grave has preserved most stones of its oval enclosure appr. (16,5m by 10m). Most of them are fallen. The 9,6m [1] chambers' megalithic skeleton is largely in situ except for the central capstone C3, that was partly robbed in historic times. As at several other sites in Drenthe the westernmost capstone is the largest. *Foreground slightly stretched in this one as a result of wide-angle lens [1] Reference: Giffen,...

D17 Rolde

D17 Rolde submitted by Martin_L on 9th Nov 2009. View from the North. The capstones partly collapsed into the chamber. Probably a result of historic destruction attempts and the removal of all smaller stones and the dry walling. Nevertheless a very impressive site. The nearby site D18 is visible in the background. June 2009

D20 Drouwen submitted by Martin_L on 9th Apr 2010. Overview from the North-West. The 6-capstone passage grave measures approximately 11m x 3,2m. The 16m x 7m enclosure is well-preserved/restored. Some missing kerb-stones are marked by concrete implements. The earthwork is largely removed, the chamber is halfways embedded into the ground. June 2010

Der Hunt

Der Hunt submitted by Martin_L on 14th May 2015. The stone setting in May 2015. Seen from a low angle. Took the photo with old medium format camera and expired film to hopefully add some atmosphere to this reconstructed site. The stones of the site have been rediscovered during deep ploughing and rearranged without any knowledge of the original state. Furthermore the site probably originates from medieval times. Nevertheless it is featured in a recently edited book about Menhirs in Deutschland. It is situated close to an agricultural road whic...

Derreenataggart

Derreenataggart submitted by Johnny on 21st Jun 2002. Derreenataggart Stone Circle, Co. Cork (V665 463): Derreenataggart is both easily accessible and a fine example of an axial or recumbent stone circle. It is now incomplete: of an original fifteen or so stones, nine remain erect and three are now prostrate. The stones are graded in height increasing from the stones adjacent to the recumbent, c0.4m in height, up to the stones in the portal area which would have been close to 2.5m in height. The circle has an E-W equinoctial alignment and ha...
