Kennet District Council and Dreweatt Neate are sponsoring a Wiltshire Victoria County History Appeal Lecture, entitled "What Is Stonehenge For?", on Wednesday 13th November at 7.30 pm in Devizes Corn Exchange.

The Speaker will be Mike Pitts – writer, broadcaster, ex-restaurateur, publisher, photographer and former museum curator. He is the author of a popular book about the Boxgrove hominid project (Fairweather Eden), and has directed his own excavations at both Stonehenge and Avebury (described in Hengeworld). He is joint holder of the British Archaeology Press Award 2000 and is currently Head of Interpretation for the English Heritage Stonehenge Project.

Tickets cost £5.00 and are available from the Devizes Visitor Centre (01380 729408) or Mr Frank Marshall, Kennet District Council, Browfort, Devizes (01380 724911). Cheques should be made payable to "The County History Trust".
