Archaeologists will meet in Lincoln this weekend to discuss how finds in the county have helped them understand prehistoric Britain.
The Collection, in Danes Terrace, is hosting a conference for experts to hear more about the latest finds.
They will discuss how archaeological discoveries in places like the Witham Valley have built a more detailed picture of how Britain might have looked 20,000 years ago.
The event, called Early Prehistoric Lincolnshire, is being organised by a division of the Heritage Trust of Lincolnshire called Archaeological Project Services.
Project manager Mark Williams said: "We have got various speakers from Lincolnshire and beyond talking about some of the research taking place.
"Lincolnshire has some of the most important remains in the country, certainly in the wetland areas," said Mr Williams. "It has been a long time since a conference like this has taken place. There has been a lot of incredible stuff since, which is talked about nationally now."
Most of the speakers will be professional archaeologists - but some amateurs will also get to unveil their work.
Washingborough Archaeology Group, based near Lincoln, will give a video presentation on the on-going survey of the Witham Valley.
Group member and freelance film maker Nick Loven (27) has followed the archaeologists' work over the last 18 months.
The University of Lincoln media graduate said: "When we first started doing it they were not sure why we were bothering but the photos we have been taking were really useful for any presentations they had to do."
The Collection itself has examples of artifacts from the period between the last two ice ages.
It includes bones from long-extinct creatures like the straight-tusked elephant which once roamed Lincolnshire when it had a savannah-like climate.
Antony Lee, keeper of collections at the museum, said many visitors were surprised by the discoveries.
He added: "The thing with pre-history is that if you can flesh it out and talk about the species that were around it does bring it to life."
