Hugh Newman writes: A lot has been happening since the sad passing of John Michell and last year's conference. From discoveries of megaliths and unusual earthworks in Ukraine and the news that the ‘Garden of Eden’ has been unearthed in the middle-east, the last conference helped unlock some remarkable secrets of the ancient world.

The 2010 event continues in the same vein, investigating what the ancients were up to all over the world. A few discounted tickets for the 2010 gathering are still available. Tickets are £70 (then £82) for the first 50 sold, so please call 01458 831800 to reserve your seat.

We are planning a concert for Saturday night (8th May) at the conference venue and will announce details of that very soon. We also hope to present a tribute to the great Hamish Miller, who sadly passed away recently. Hamish spoke at the 2008 conference about his research in New Zealand and he was a big influence and friend of us organizers. We dedicate the 2010 conference to his memory.

We are pleased to announce that Robert Bauval will be discussing his breakthrough discoveries about the origins of Egypt, and Andrew Collins will be revealing the cave and tunnel systems beneath Giza he recently discovered. Staying on that continent, Michael Tellinger will be opening up a lost megalithic civilization from Great Zimbabwe that is arguably the oldest city-state on the planet; and Antoine Gigal has rediscovered pyramids on Mauritius, as well as in Sicily and Tenerife. Back to Albion, Anthony Thorley will be discussing the subject of his Phd, Landscape Zodiacs in Britain, and Francine Blake will be comparing ancient rock carvings to modern crop circle symbolism. There’s a whole lot more than that though, so check out the enclosed flyer for the complete line up and find details of each speakers talk on the website. We will also be hosting another Megalithic art gallery and a full day seminar with Michael Tellinger detailing his amazing discoveries in South Africa, plus the tours listed below.

Egyptian Revelations at Megalithomania Conference by Andy B on Wednesday, 14 April 2010
(User Info | Send a Message)
Megalithomania is now less than one month away. Unfortunately Aubrey Burl has had to pull out for personal reasons, so we apologise if you were coming to see him.

However, this has given us the space to invite Paul Devereux to give us a second talk on the Saturday about his new research on Sacred Geography. It will be a preview of his major new book that is being published this Summer looking at several varieties of magical megalithic mindscapes of the past. He will show how older civilisations invested their landscapes with religious, mythological, and magical meaning. He will take us from Native American desert markings to Buddhist sacred soundscapes, from Egyptian living landscapes to oriental gardens, and much else besides, raising the question, “Can we draw environmental wisdom today from the ancient idea of sacred geography?” This presentation will be in celebration of his forthcoming book. For more info on Paul Devereux's two talks see http://www.megalithomania.co.uk/speakersnew.html

Robert Bauval, best-selling author of 'The Orion Mystery' and 'The Secret Chamber', will be doing a keynote presentation about his new research on Saturday evening at Megalithomania, at the Assembly Rooms, Glastonbury on May 8th. Bauval has collaborated on books with Graham Hancock and Adrian Gilbert and has a new book entitled 'Black Genesis' which is due to be released in July. At Megalithomania, Bauval will be presenting his new research for the first time in the UK, looking primarily at the enigmatic stone circles of Nabta Playa in southern Egypt, that pre-dates the pyramids by several thousand years and was used as an astronomical clock - one of the first in the world. He will be discussing the ancient origins of a culture that inspied the pyramid builders millenia later.

Andrew Collins, best-selling author of 'The Cygnus Mystery'. 'Gateway to Atlantis' and most recently 'Beneath the Pyramids' will be headlining the Megalithomania Conference on Sunday 9th May. His breakthrough research into the mysteries of what exist under the Giza plateau has caused a sensation in the media and academic world. His discovery of a strange convoluted cave complex that goes underneath the pyramids will be examined during his talk at Megalithomania, revealing for the first time at a UK conference, a long lost world of intrigue, conspiracy and unknown part of Egyptian culture. In fact, since his initial discovery, the caves have now been sealed up with no public access by the authorities. Andrew told us "Powerful evidence suggests that this underground complex existed before even the Pyramid Age, and might well reflect an African origin to the roots of ancient Egyptian religion. It might also hold the key to answering claims that in the vicinity of the Sphinx is a lost Hall of Records." Andrew has also written an exclusive article called 'Underworld of the Pharoahs' for Megalithomania that is now on the website - http://www.megalithomania.co.uk.

As well of two days of talks with speakers such as Francine Blake, Antoine Gigal, Gary Biltcliffe and Anthony Thorley, Megalithomania also has tours to Stonehenge (Friday), Avebury (Monday) and around the Glastonbury Zodiac (Tuesday). Plus a special talk by Michael Tellingeron the Tuesday evening and Wednesday afternoon. These are all open to anyone, even non-conference attendees. See the website for full details.

Megalitomania conference update by Andy B on Friday, 09 April 2010
(User Info | Send a Message)
Megalithomania, the annual conference about the mysteries of the ancient world, is back at the Glastonbury Assembly Rooms on the 8th and 9th May 2010. Now in its fifth year, the conference welcomes a fresh line-up of international authors, visionaries and real-life Indiana Jones'. Amongst a line up including Paul Devereux, Francine Blake, Robert Bauval and Andrew Collins, we welcome the author of 'Lost Star of Myth and Time', Walter Cruttenden coming over from California. He will be discussing 'great cycles' of the cosmos and how the ancient cultures from all over the world were tracking the 26,000 year cycle called 'precession'. Walter has also written an exclusive article abput his cutting-edge research for Megalithomania that is now on the website - http://www.megalithomania.co.uk.

Over the years Megalithomania has heard speakers such as Graham Hancock, John Michell, David Hatcher Childress and many others share their research about the prehistoric megalithic builders of antiquity. As more and more people visit sacred sites every year, they are finding a deeper connection to the ancient lndscape and questioning what the historians say about these incredible sites. Megalithomania steps in to tackle these mysteries from every angle possible and from the worlds top authors, researchers and scholars , leaving no stone unturned (pun intended!).

For example, did you know there were thousands of prehistoric gold mines and stone circles in South Africa? Did you know that Britain has over sixty landscape zodiacs, similar to the famous 'Glastonbury Temple of the Stars'? Did you realise that there were two other large stone circles close to Stonehenge? Did you know that the pyramids of Giza have weird ancient tunnels beneath them and that Tenerife, Sicily and Mauritius all have ancient pyramids on them?

Megalithomania is a key to unlocking these unexplained mysteries of the ancient world and opens an insight into our ancestors way of life. Hugh Newman, the organiser told us: "Megalithomania creates a stage for revelations in the fields of archaeoastronomy, geomancy, mathematics, ley alignments, sacred geometry and other cutting-edge disciplines that are helping rewrite our own history, but are often completely overlooked by the academic world. Many people want to know where we came from and connect to our ancestors so we hope that this annual event can be part of that process."

Megalithomania also has tours to Stonehenge (Friday), Avebury (Monday) and around the Glastonbury Zodiac (Tuesday). Plus a special talk by Michael Tellinger on the Tuesday evening and Wednesday afternoon. These are all open to anyone, even non-conference attendees. See the website for full details.
