StonehengeTRUTH AND RECONCILIATION COMMISSION FOR STONEHENGEThirty-second meeting, Wednesday July 16th 2003, The Function Room, GEORGE HOTEL, AMESBURY, From 2:00PM
The Commission is an open forum and is a voluntary initiative of The International Institute of Peace Studies & Global Philosophy, and of The Stonehenge Peace Process which is a project working to bring together all parties with an interest in the controversial issues of access to Stonehenge and the surrounding landscape. We believe that a lasting solution can only be found if everyone participates and the legitimate needs of everyone including druids and pagans, local residents, new age travellers, the public and all Solstice visitors can be addressed in a spirit of compromise.
The Solstice Access this year has been judged a great success, despite the controversy about the two dawns, the great numbers, and fears of protesters. But no gathering of 30,000 can be without difficulties, there was massive traffic chaos and some issues to discuss, about this year, and hopes for improvements in the future, both at Stonehenge and Avebury, which are joined as part of one World Heritage site.
