Hunter-Gatherhers in Surrey and beyond. A conference on Saturday 30th September 2006, 10am - 5pm at the Surrey History Centre, Woking The Surrey County Archaeological Unit has been working with ArchaeoScape of Royal Holloway College on an important Mesolithic excavation at North Park Farm Quarry, Bletchingley, East Surrey.

The conference will explore the discoveries from these excavations, and set them in their local and national context with the aid of two of the leading experts on the period.

Speakers include

Professor Steven Mithen (University of Reading) - Placing the Mesolithic in a regional and international context

Phil Jones (SCAU) - Hunter-Gatherers at North Park Farm

Dr Nick Branch (ArchaeoScape) - Mesolithic landscape and environment at North Park Farm and beyond

Dr Roger Jacobi (British Museum) - The Horsham Culture on the Western Greensand

Also on the day:

Demonstrations of flintknapping and cordage by renowned practitioners John and Val Lord

Displays of the finds from North Park Farm and other Mesolithic material
