Fan Brycheiniog
Fan Brycheiniog submitted by sem : First Prize in Cat B. Fan Brycheiniog - possibly the largest surviving ritual landscape in Britain. (Vote or comment on this photo)
The results for Category B, Best Springtime photo with an Historic or Landscape subject are as follows:

1st: Fan Brycheiniog by sem - Excellent on both aesthetic and technical grounds
2nd: Inch Abbey by Sveta - my personal favourite, so much to enjoy here
3rd: Cherry Tree at Portling by nicoladidsbury - a fantastic one, the varying colours give it a kind of film set feel

First Prize is two tickets for the Forbidden Knowledge Conference in July.
Second Prize, £20 to spend in our online shop.

Well done and thanks to everyone who entered.

You can view the entries here.

Hi All
Many thanks to those who voted for me and to the other people who took part for providing such a high standard of competition (especially Thorgrim who I still think should not have withdrawn his entry). I regard it as a privilege to be involved with a site such as this and hope that further competitions will encourage more people to improve their photographical skills.
The shot itself was pre-planned in that I knew snow was coming and so read everything I could on taking Winter shots. The pose by my wife Caroline, was spur of the moment and she appears to be looking at the peak and thinking "How the "£$%^&*" am I going to get up there ?" As it turned out we didn't get there and took four and a half hours to walk less than four miles, sometimes up to our knees in snow.
Finally, anyone who has not been to this area, GO. There are 6 accepted (archaeologically speaking) circles in an area 6x4 miles, plus loads of single stones, rows, cairns, alignments and probably quite a few indiscovered sites in an area that has not been disturbed in hundreds of years.
So..... "Yes Ug. I know your Welsh great-uncle UgiUgiUgiOyOyOy used to live there so please don't disturb me ..eh.. was this chalice gold or wood .. with whiskey in you say.. COMING."
Thanks again folks..gotta go !
