Carreg Samson, Abercastle
Carreg Samson, Abercastle submitted by stonetramp : First Prize in Category A This stunning cromlech is right on the Pembrokeshire coast, not far from Fishguard. It sits in a coastal sheep meadow, accessable over the cattle grid off the farm driveway. The ambience is magnificent as you can see. (Vote or comment on this photo)
The results for Category A, Best Springtime photo with a Megalithic or Prehistoric subject are as follows:
1st: Carreg Samson by stonetramp - This one benefitted from appearing early, which is a feature of the competition but was way in front whichever way you look at it. So good that I thought it was putting off other entrants.
2nd: Equinox Rock Art in La Hougue Bie by archaeologysafaris - Clever and effective use of lighting effects
3rd: Boscawen Un by AngieLake - Angie's secret is out, and what better way to celebrate it.

First prize is two tickets for the Megalithomania Weekend in May. See here for dates, venue and programme.
Second Prize, £20 to spend in our
online shop.

Well done and thanks to everyone who entered.

You can view all the entries here.

Well done Stonetramp! And everyone else. I love the competitions; the dialogue, the suspense, the lovely photos, its such good fun. It also focused me when I was on holiday down in Wales, Im sure the sheep were quite sick of me running around trying to catch them with their lambs near megalithic places:)
The three winning photos in this category were all suberb and all deserved to win.

Hi Everyone,
I just want to say how very thrilled I am to have won first prize! I approached this site from the farm, and being a sassenach had no idea what to expect. As I crossed the cattle grid into the field, the sun was just ready to set behind me and was shining low directly on the cromlech. It took my breath away. I have never been to an ancient site with more ambiance. It was really the highlight of trip.
Thank you all, I am very excited!
