Convention at Bath Spa University College,
Newton Park Campus, Newton St Loe, Bath
On 18th May 2002.
Main speaker, Hamish Miller
Also exhibition of photographs taken by W.H.McKaig, Alfred Watkins' right hand man

Venue: The Newton Park Campus is just off the A4, 3 miles to the west of Bath. Take the A39 at the roundabout by the Globe Inn and the entrance is immediately on the left. The Main House is 1 mile up the drive. Maps and directions can be found on www.bathspa.ac.uk/maps. We will be in Room MH1.11 - there will be directions in Reception.

Public Transport: Badgerline Bright Orange Buses (BOB) No.418 run between the City and the Newton Park Campus. Timetable enquiries 01225 464446. Please check if you are going to use the bus.

Catering: Unfortunately the catering facilities at the College are not open at weekends. We are proposing to go to The Globe Inn for lunch and those with their cars are requested to ensure that no-one has to walk!

Accommodation: The College is unable to offer accommodation because it is term time. The local Tourist Board office can be contacted on 01225 477101 but we are told that accommodation in Bath is heavily booked for that weekend. Rose Heaword can offer 'sleeping bag' accommodation in Frome for some - contact her on 0207 262 9502 if interested.

Programme: We look forward to welcoming our main speaker, Hamish Miller, and are sure he will have an interesting lecture for us. We expect to have between 30 and 40 people and look forward to seeing you then. There will be a bookstall.

Exhibition: We are also looking forward to welcoming Laurence Smith who will be exhibiting his collection of photographs taken by W.H.McKaig. Billy McKaig was Alfred Watkins? right hand man and this fascinating collection will be of great interest.

Sunday 19th May: Regrettably we have been unable to confirm the Ley Walk that was originally planned. As a substitute Rose Heaword has agreed to lead a visit for those interested to the Roman Baths. Arrangements will be made on the Saturday.
