Superb Neolithic passage grave date between 4000 & 3250BC. 2 chapels, c15C, on top of pagan site . Great to go in and a good museum on the site. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Places are still available on the 5th Archaeology Safaris annual field trip to discover the prehistoric sites on the island of Jersey. During the weekend of 25/02/05 - 28/02/05 we will explore the jewel of the channel islands, a tour of beautiful Jersey and its outstanding Megalithic Architecture, not least of all: La Hougue Bie a magnificent passage grave, with little known Rock Art within this impressive monument.
The talks and guided tours will be given by Archaeologist Dr George Nash, who excavated on the island and at La Hougue Bie during the 1980s. Although the majority of the monuments we visit are from the Neolithic, many are multi-period sites and landscapes and this is discussed in great detail. For example we will be visiting Palaeolithic, Mesolithic, Bronze Age, Iron Age, Roman, Medieval and World War Two sites, as well as the magnificent Neolithic structures. This unique experience is one not to be missed, with fact packed days and most enjoyable and sociable evening entertainment.
