The provisional plan is to have one day exploring the rock-art and archaeological remains that were uncovered by the fire several years ago, on Fylingdales Moor. This walk will be led by Graeme Chappell
On the other day, possible sites to visit include: -
* Wheeldale Roman Road/Wade's Causeway (Interesting article about the
Giant Wade here)
* The Wheeldale standing stones
* The Low and High Bridestones
* The Hole of Horcum and the famous Saltersgate Inn, of Hand of Glory fame.
* Lastingham Crypt
... Or anywhere else anyone fancies visiting in the area. We are open to suggestions!
Foul weather alternatives include the Whitby Museum, where there is an exhibition of some of the finds made on Fylingdales Moor and the Ryedale Folk Museum
For folks wanting to do both days, we intend staying overnight in Goathland. There's a wide range of accommodation in the village, people should arrange what's suitable for themselves, and we could all meet up in the pub on the Saturday night!

The walks are run in association with Northern Earth magazine, the UK's longest-running journal dedicated to the study of 'Earth Mysteries'.
This article will be updated with a more detailed itinerary over the next few weeks... For any additional information, feel free to contact me at [email protected] or visit http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/NEWalks/
