The Megalithic Portal is now running from two servers instead of our usual one. You should already be able to feel a difference in speed. This should solve the very slow running we've had to put up with in busy periods, but it will also double our web hosting fees.

I'm currently getting a free week's trial run to see how it goes but if we're going to keep the second server permanently we now need a bit of a fundraising drive.

Due to other things that are having a major drain on our finances I can't fund this upgrade on my own at the moment. Basically we need to get 15 new paid up memberships in the next week or it's back to the old slowcoach... So please join up here!

If you've been fed up with the slow speed, now is your chance to contribute to what we're doing.

Alternatively you could always buy some books, CDs or DVDs from our online shop. There are some new titles this week and lots of bargains to be had.

Correction - if you count the server that is running the main Megalith Map http://www.megalithic.co.uk/mapserv/ which is still based here, we have gone from 2 to 3 servers powering the Megalithic Portal.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed so far, but more is needed. I will post a 'totalizer' result tomorrow.

I've come to use the megalithic portal more than any other site and like the independent contributions and exchange of information between members
At this time I should probably work more on my membership other than anonymous contributions and as it happens to be I currently have documentation to receive funds that are in an investment not doing well so I may be able to contribute
Whats' the strength of the US Dollar against the British Pound?
I like the online store idea, could be marketing software, tools and such for archeaologists
Also what about a download site for media of personal use only at a pay for view venue
ps thanks for the Leicester reference they are tops in their
field and centered in my long range goals as well
I like the thought of higher study incorporated with pub
technology

Andy, Your site is magic and the amount of work you must do to keep it up to date must be overwhelming - I am full of admiration for your work. The speed up has worked a treat - it feels like my brain has been sped up! I shall purchase more books from you soon.

Dear Andy,

i use 3v pre-paid credit card vouchers (being retuired on a low income)and the lose the small amount each, as 2 or 3 eurosl, when not used by the use by date. I have three of these and would willingly see these amount which will be about 16 Euros donated to you. (I have to so this before the end of the month...which is only a couple of days away) I will willingly provide you with the voucher numbers and the Cvv numbers so that you can draw down the amounts....
